Annapolis Maritime Museum  

Exhibit on Thomas Point Shoal lighthouse features the documentary, "Legacy of the Light." Summertime Concert series and a wintertime series of Maritime seminars, see Events Calendar for details.

Annapolis Pottery  

Stoneware, Porcelain & Earthenware. Visitors are welcome to watch potters in the studio! In 1994, new owners added the pottery studio and gallery to the building's colorful history which included the YWCA, a homestyle cafeteria, railway express office, saloon and brothel. Great pots for great prices are created here every day.

Chesapeake Children's Museum  

The mission of Chesapeake Children's Museum is to create an environment of discovery about oneself, the peoples, the technologies, and the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay area for all our children and for the children in us all. Exhibit spaces, group activity areas, outdoor areas. A popular workshop program is "Lead On, Harriet!" which brings visitors in contact with Harriet Tubman who will conduct them on a simulated "run" on the Underground Railroad. Summer Camp Programs: June 11-25, Chess Camp. Learn the moves from Greg Acholonu, a national chess master and experienced chess teacher. July 30-August 2, Welcome Future Inventors. Activities planned by the toy and gadget company, BY Kids For Kids, encourages children to invent possibly marketable products. August 6-9, Camp Kunta Kinte. Explore African culture, climate and cuisine through lots of hands-on activities.

Hammond-Harwood House  

Built in 1774, this Georgian Palladian house was designed for wealthy tobacco planter Matthias Hammond. The residence includes 18th-century family furnishings, portraiture and a beautiful Colonial revival boxwood garden. Extensive collection of historic Maryland art includes 10 works by Charles Willson Peale, as well as paintings by Rembrandt Peale, James Peale, Charles Peale Polk, John Hesselius, John Beale Bordley, and furniture by Shaw. Popular hands-on school programs available.

Hours: April 1 to October 31: Tuesday - Sunday, noon - 5 p.m., last tour at 4 p.m. November 1 to March 31, open for special events, group and school tours.

Historic London Town Archaeological Dig Days  

Historic London Town and Gardens is the site of a wonderful hands-on archaeological dig that is open to the public several days each year. Dig with professional archaeologists in search of the lost town of London. No experience required. Adult must accompany children under 14. Groups must make reservations in advance. FREE. Smithsonian Environmental Research Center  

Located on the 18th-century Java Plantation, the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center is a scientific and education center. Numerous public programs are designed for individuals and families as well as for school and organized groups. A self-guided Java History Trail tour is available on site or online, and a new Canoe/Kayak Trail Guide is also available. Start at the Reed Education Center; pick up a self-registration form, with a day pass. Directions for filling out the form will be with the form itself. After completing the form the visitor must date the hang tag, which is valid for one day only. The pass must be displayed on the dashboard at all times while on campus.

USNA Kids' Programs  

The USNA Visitor Center sponsors terrific Kids' Programs through the year, which vary seasonally. "NAVY WAY" BASIC BOOT CAMP, Youngsters 6-12 experience what it's like to be a swabbie. Recruits are issued a Dixie cup cap...they learn Navy terms, how to march, chant and follow orders. They eat in a simulated mess in Dahlgren Hall. "NAVY WAY" ADVANCED BOOT CAMP Graduates of "Navy Way" Basic Boot Camp advance to precision drill and learning to tie knots and use semaphore flags.
